…And Scarlet makes three!
Sweet Scarlet taking a snooze on the rug. Love those paws!
We know it sounds crazy—three setter pups in 13 months? But what can I say, we are a bit crazy. And we seem to be happiest when we embrace our craziness.
How did we get here? We’ve always had dogs, but as our dogs were getting older, it was time to add an energetic new pup. Ruby came from a family in Oregon last Spring. And did she bring excitement to our house! We didn’t realize how much we needed her. Last winter our sweet Bentley (aka “Juice box”) passed after 12 great years with our family. Slowly, the idea of a second setter girl came to mind. Ruby needed a pal that could play at her intensity level. And, since we had fallen in love with setters, maybe we would want to have a litter of our own in a few years. That’s when we found Gingering Oklahoma this February. We didn’t dream of getting a third setter until we saw that Ruby’s mom had had another litter. If those pups could be anything like Ruby, we knew we needed one. And then we saw the adorable pictures…sold!
How could we say no when the breeder sent us this photo?
I practically run a puppy daycare now. It’s been three days, and we’re loving it. I think we’re still in puppy-mode from the “older” girls, which helps. There’s not that huge adjustment, and most things are still puppy-proofed (or rather we humans are better trained to take care of our stuff!) So, I guess we wait another few months before we replace the carpet. I can deal with that.
